Day 5: Vancouver - Victoria

Day 5 - 61.4km (1381 km total)

Super easy day. Sushi for breakfast with Marta Pietrzak and Andres Clavier, ferry ride to the island, landing at mom’s house, fabulous east coast/ west coast dinner and play time with a puppy.

We geared up for full rain again (appropriately so) and met up with Marta and Andres for a sushi breakfast at Sushivan. We had a great catchup and chatted about just how similar we can be to our parents.

It was great to learn just how comfortable it is to leave our bikes in a parkade... keeps the bikes out of the way, less worry about our luggage and provides a dry place to get prepped before heading out!

The little bit of highway between downtown Vancouver and Tsawwassen was quite rainy, and out helmets got a bit foggy with the humidity. I was reminded again just how amazing RainX is, and how much a difference it makes when you don’t have it....

We hung out at the terminal for a bit before boarding. There weren’t any announcements that boarding was starting, so unfortunately we missed getting onto the ferry first (we got on last instead). The ride over was uneventful, and it felt so sweet to ride off the ferry onto the island, our final destination for this leg of the journey in sight!

We were greeted by an amazing dinner (scallops and shrimp followed by full lobster!) when we got in.

The next 5 days will be chilled out quality time with family as we eat nice dinners and snag some delicious local fruits.
