I'm a Recovering Addict

I'm a gratefully recovering addict.

I celebrated 6 years of #sobriety (and 8 years of recovery) on January 24, 2019.

It's been tough, especially the 4 years when I "quit" every morning only to relapse the next day.

Riding my bike, video games, alcohol, drugs, porn, YouTube, social media, food... There's always some instant gratification ready to fill the void, because #AddictionIsAddiction

My biggest #fear? "What's everyone gonna think?! I can't share this at work. I'll get fired! Won't get promoted! No one will trust an addict..."

I couldn't be more wrong. It's been extremely liberating to share my story. I've only ever had supportive responses or been able to deepen my connection with others by sharing my #vulnerability.

If you're afraid to share your struggle, that's totally ok! It takes time to build the confidence to "come out" with vulnerabilities.

Don't let the fear stop you.

Take a small step.

I wouldn't be here without the #support of friends, family, and recovery. Thank You!
