Day 15: Smithers - Prince George

Day 15 - 371 km (3,146 km total)

Yummy breakfast, rain, cold, German bakery, rain, cold, Brewhouse!

Today was a tough day, but we were much more emotionally prepared for it. Sarah has taken over logistics planning to make sure we have enough stops and still make it to our destination on time . I have a tendency to drag my feet and take a long time at stops, so it's great having someone on top of that!

Walking to go to dinner and walking to go for breakfast has been a really good way to get a bit of a feel for either the town or at least the community where we are staying . We've been much more conscious of where we book accomodation to make sure things are walking distance, as neither of us feel like getting back on the bikes at the end of the day.

One of our breaks was at a bakery owned by a German man who came from Germany, to Yukon, and is now at Burns Lake, BC because he craved open space. There seem to be a lot of German's that have migrated to this Northern BC area; we've visited or seen several German places or German run B&Bs .

We got into Prince George at a very reasonable hour due to our excellent logistics planning and checked into the Coast Hotel, which has BIDETS installed on their toilets. Sooooo good. High-end, heated seat, blow drying bidets!

We got some yummy food and pizzas at the CrossRoads brewery. We also had some good chats about Covid precautions and how to manage different interactions... What kind of things are safe and what's not. All the PPE for Covid (masks, hand washing, not touching), and when to do what is a bit tough for me to grasp. It's all so unnatural... But I'm glad we are having the discussions now to lay the foundations for the next year or more.
