Giving and Getting Value During Construction Field Visit
As an engineer, field visits are an incredibly powerful tool for #learning.
How do you get the most out of it? đ§
You need to find ways to ADD value to the #project, and you need to embrace that you are there to GET value.
There may be someway for you to contribute to a project while you are there. Talk to the PM and CM and figure out what activity you can do (small or big) to help out. It might be some quality checks, reporting, updates or taking pictures that makes someone else's life easier.
Youâre ultimately there to learn. Especially as an intern, EIT or non-essential field staff. Embrace it. Ask questions non stop. About everything.
Let everyone know youâre here to learn and you donât know ANYTHING. It makes it so much easier to ask questions when youâre not trying to pump your ego and pretend you âknow thingsâ.
