Incident Action Plans for Everyday Use
During #EmergencyResponse, an Incident Action Plan is built for every operational period (12/24hr).
✅ This is the team’s daily “marching orders”. It’s used to brief everyone at the start of work to stay on the same page.
The content of an Incident Action Plan is, as always, modular and flexible. It can have additional components for more complex responses. In the #PMP world, it's like building a daily project management plan.
A very basic plan might include the following:
1. Cover Page (ICS 200) – Date and time, approval signatures, and a new picture every day, making it obvious if you are reading the correct revision.
2. Incident Objectives (ICS 202) – Specific, attainable and time-bound priorities. We use LIPs – Life Safety, Incident Stabilization, Property and Environmental protection (in that order).
3. Organizational Assignments (ICS 203) – Who is assigned to what roles (an org chart).
4. Assignment List (ICS 204) – How we will meet our objectives. Describes location, scope, people, and special instructions for each field team.
5. Safety Plan (ICS 208) – Plan for safety of ICS and response personnel (like a JSA).
❓Can you use this for small one-off projects or initiatives❓
